Striking Digital Signage Landmarks in Shanghai

1 The World's First LED Spherical Screen (Built in 1988)

The “crystal ball” at MetroCity, a renowned landmark in Xujiahui since its establishment in 1998, has undergone a remarkable upgrade. This 41.2-meter diameter giant LED ball is now adorned with 3,888 4K HD display screens, replacing its previous light strip design. As a result, it has become the world's first naked-eye 3D spherical display.

2 Shanghai Nanjing East Road

Nanjing East Road Pedestrian Street in Shanghai has recently upgraded with advanced technologies including naked-eye 3D screens. Highlights include the ultra-4K LED 3D screen on the No. 1 Department Store (now 1088㎡), the 8K 3D screen on the No. 1 Pharmaceutical Building, and the LED screen on the Zhen Lao Da Fang Food Store.

3 Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport

A total of 1,800m² of LED has been installed in the OXO City area of Shanghai Hongqiao airport. The centrepiece of this ambitious project is a gigantic 700m² videowall at the airport’s exit, which welcomes travellers and visitors into the adjacent shopping environment featuring a further 40 screens arranged into eight cubes.

4 Shanghai Film Art Center

As you step into the lobby, the grandeur of the space is immediately apparent, with a massive LED sky wall stretching almost 30 meters long and 6 meters wide overhead. And it's not just any ordinary ceiling, as it boasts naked-eye 3D effects and immersive stereo sound.

5 The Museum of Art Pudong (MAP)

The Mirror Hall at MAP showcases the LED transparent screen trend. On the west side of the building, it has two mirrored corridors on the 2nd and 3rd floors, each 55 meters long, with LED screens on one side and views of the Bund skyline on the other.

China boasts numerous tech experience centers. The Super Space & Time Cube is one of them. Theis attraction blends holographic technology, augmented reality (AR), glasses-free 3D visuals, and immersive experiences.
